Black Tie Required - Wear the best plain black bow tie you can find along with tuxedo.
Black Tie Preferred - Try your very best to wear a black tie with tuxedo, but if you really would prefer not to then opt for a dark tie and lounge suit.
Black Tie Optional - If you like dressing up then go full formal with tuxedo and black tie. If you're not normally a dressy type of guy then wear your best business suit and dark tie.
Of course black ties are also great for fashion purposes. You can't really go wrong with a crisp white shirt and plain black tie.
